Observability Team Update - Weeks 9-10 (2024)

Hi everyone!

Below are the team’s updates for weeks 9 to 10 of 2024. First, as always, let’s introduce the fantastic team and what we’re building.

:muscle: The Team

The Observability team at Canonical consists of Dylan, Jose, Leon, Luca, Pietro, Ibrahim, Mateusz, and Simme. Our goal is to provide you with the best open-source observability stack possible, turning your day-2 operations into smooth sailing.

:hammer_and_wrench: The Work

This pulse saw continued efforts dedicated to further refining the Mimir charm.

We’re excited to announce that tracing support has been integrated using the latest version of Tempo 2. The tempo charm now fully supports v2 tracing while maintaining backward compatibility.

We developed a Snap for SNMP-notifier to meet the need for integrating COS with external systems like Zabbix.

Additionally, we squashed numerous bugs throughout the stack!

 Feedback welcome

As always, feedback is very welcome! Feel free to let us know your thoughts, questions, or suggestions either here or on our brand new Matrix channel.

That’s all for this time! See you again in two weeks!
